The story of Goddess Skandamata
According to mythology, there was a demon named Tarakasur, he did penance and got the boon of immortality from Brahma ji. But Brahma ji said that whoever has come to this world has to leave one day or the other. Listening to Brahma ji, Tarakasur asked for the boon that only Lord Shiva's son can kill him. After which Tarakasur created havoc all around. Gradually his terror had increased a lot. But no one could end Tarakasur. Because his end was possible only at the hands of Lord Shiva's son Kartikeya. Then on the request of the gods, Lord Shiva took a physical form and married Mother Parvati. After which Mother Parvati took the form of Skandamata to train her son Skanda i.e. Kartikeya for war.
