Mythological story
It is said in a mythological belief that once the popular goddess of Hindu Dharma, Maa Lakshmi ji, requested Lord Vishnu and asked him and the Devas to rest from their work for four months and go into yoga Nidra. God agreed to her and went into yoga Nidra for four months. God took this sleep in the month of Ashadh and resumed his ethical work on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. After waking up, he inspired all the Devas for their duties. This is the reason why it is also called Devotthan Ekadashi.
Importance of Devuthani Ekadashi

On this day, people also worship Tulsi leaves by placing them at their place of worship. According to Paras Bhai Ji, worship of Lord Vishnu is incomplete without offering Tulsi leaves. On this day, in the evening, sweets, etc. are offered to Lord Vishnu.
